Gratitude Journal, Red Notice, Cooku With Comali | Talking Thursdays

Hello, my fellow Spirals!

I created this post simply to connect with my readers and talk about anything and everything. The main aim is to give you an update on my life, any books that I have recently found, any show or movie that I have watched, what I like or dislike currently, etc.

Life Update

I think I can happily say that I have had quite a pleasant week so far. I feel like I am starting to be quite optimistic these days rather than my usual negative self. My 6-month break from academics really helped my mental health and I am so grateful for it.

To improve my daily mental health and positivity, I have started keeping a gratitude journal. Have journaled for the past 2 years so far, I really like reading through them at times. It makes me so happy to see that I have come such a long way and all the things that I used to stress about have worked out for me in the end. I was never the one to believe “Everything happens for a reason”, but after the kind of year 2020 and 2021 has been for me, I can see how much truth that proverb holds.

I am still procrastinating like mad but it’s okay. I am not putting too much pressure on myself and allowing myself to relax when I can. When my project ramps up, I am 100% sure that I won’t even have time to breathe peacefully.

Books, Movies & TV Shows

I haven’t been doing much of reading which I am happy about. I am not forcing anything and letting myself read at my own pace. However, I feel like I am kind of in a funk where I can’t seem to find any book that I enjoy. I DNF a book within the first 10-20 pages which is actually a struggle.

Coming to movies, I watched Red Notice with my parents. Technically my mom made my Dad and I watch it because she found it amazing. And I ended up enjoying it as well too! I had added it to My List on Netflix months ago and kept saving it for a later date after hearing great reviews about it. **Spoiler Alert** The movie was good not great UNTIL the plot twist where Dwayne Johnson switches sides. Plus seriously, can a movie with Gal Gadot, Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds ever be bad?!

I have also started The Originals because I am actually getting sick of watching The Vampire Diaries. I am somewhere in season 8 and really bored of it at this point. It sucks that I won’t be completing it but at least I am not going to be wasting my time watching a show I don’t enjoy.

Also to all my Tamilians, Cooku With Comali Season 3 ( translation: Cooks with Clowns) has finally started airing on TV! 🎉🎉🎉 To those who have no idea about this show, it is a very unique take on a cooking competition show where the cooks are paired with people that have no clue about cooking to cook a dish and present to the judges. Season 2 was a MASSIVE hit and for me personally (and for everyone else), it was a huge stress buster. Every time we watch it (and we have rewatched the whole show with 69 episodes, each 90 minutes at least 5 times), we laugh out So. Goddamn. Loud. The comedy is impeccable and authentic because none of it is scripted. It’s just a bunch of people screwing up cooking and the actual cooks getting fed up. Season 3 has been highly anticipated for the past 8 months and it’s finally here!
